Dr Sharif Ghali is a Consultant Psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience in mental health. After graduating from the University of Manchester in 1999, Dr Ghali began his career in psychiatry in 2002 and undertook postgraduate training across London, including his registrar years at South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. He currently works with the Windsor, Ascot, and Maidenhead Community Mental Health Team, providing thorough psychiatric assessments and tailored treatment for a broad spectrum of mental health conditions, ranging from common presentations to complex psychiatric disorders.
Dr Ghali’s approach to care is holistic and patient-centred, recognising the intricate interplay between mind, body, and environment. He places a strong emphasis on lifestyle and physical health as integral to mental well-being. While he is an experienced prescriber, he takes a broad therapeutic view, integrating evidence-based psychological therapies alongside pharmacological treatments.
Dr Ghali holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Evidence-Based Psychological Therapies and a Master’s degree in Psychiatric Research, reflecting his commitment to delivering up-to-date, research-informed psychiatric care.
Collaboration is central to his practice valuing the essential role carers play in supporting recovery and wellbeing. His research interests include pharmacogenetics and how genetic factors influence treatment response. Dr Ghali has held several leadership roles and is currently involved in developing a new service for individuals with complex psychosis.
In addition to clinical work, Dr Ghali is actively engaged in teaching, training, and supervising both trainee psychiatrists and multidisciplinary colleagues.
